OMRI Foundation

For bereaved families

The Mission Before Us

The Omri Foundation was established in 2024 in memory of Staff Sergeant (Res.) Omri Michaeli, an outstanding soldier in the IDF's special forces. Omri fell on October 7 while fighting terrorists and protecting Israeli civilians.

The foundation recognizes the challenges faced by families who have lost their spouses and suddenly confront economic instability. Its mission is to support those who have unwillingly joined the circle of Israeli bereavement, whether due to the "Operation Iron Swords" war or other acts of terror, from then until today.

Israel's fallen heroes left behind families whose lives were upended in an instant. These families now strive to maintain household stability while providing resilience and tranquility to their young children. The Omri Foundation aims to offer them a stable and robust economic foundation to achieve this goal.

As a society, we must participate in preserving the proper functioning of the families of fallen security personnel. This involves creating a framework that is ethical, humane, and patriotic, ensuring moral continuity and fostering a new generation filled with hope, courage, love for the land, and love for others.

Omri Michaeli

March 18, 1988 – October 7, 2024

Omri Michaeli served as a reservist in Unit 217, in the special breaching team of Duvdevan, and was wounded twice in previous operations. He participated in complex and covert missions, driven by a sense of duty to defend the homeland. On the morning of October 7, 2024, upon learning of the disaster unfolding in the Gaza envelope, Omri headed south alone to join the battle, even before being officially mobilized. He was among the first forces to enter Kibbutz Kfar Aza, immediately eliminating terrorists and rescuing families and hostages.

While leading his team in breaching a house, Omri was shot multiple times and sustained fatal injuries, shielding his comrades behind him. He was 36 years old at the time of his death. The Omri Foundation was established in his altruistic spirit and inspired by the values of giving that characterized Omri in his life—willingness and initiative to help others, marked by humility and modesty.

Our Solution

The foundation operates on several fronts to achieve its goals, including enlisting the business sector to support families of fighters who have encountered difficulties that threaten their continued proper functioning. With the assistance of socially conscious companies and businesses, the Omri Foundation aids families who have lost everything in an instant, harnessing these companies to change the lives of these families and children by providing as much food as needed for their sustenance. In practice, every company or individual donor adopts a family in need of assistance. Like any adoption process, this involves ongoing support over the years. Each family receives a fixed monthly payment intended for the purchase of food and various pharmaceutical products. Donations are transferred directly to the local supermarket for the purchase of supplies or in the form of vouchers.
